was a rock n roll dancer as early as the late 50's early 60's, regularly appearing on HTV's dance programme, Disc-a-Go-Go,
during those early years. She could also be found dancing at many local dance halls including the top Bristol rock n
roll venue, The Glen. Brenda has always had an interest in teaching rock n roll and has become one of the premier
dance teachers in the South West and uses all her experience on a Thursday evening at Begbrook to help and encourage others'
to be able to dance. In recent years, Brenda has also taught across the UK and Europe.
was taught to dance rock n roll by his older sister which then led to him being able to dance at the Dockland Settlement City
Road, Co-op Hall Prewitt Street, and The Glen. Later on he also attended dances at the Top Rank and Corn Exchange
during the 60's.
Dudley has always had an enthusiastic interest in music, 50's and 60's.
His first DJ appearance was at Co-op Hall Prewitt Street and continued on to Aunt Jemima's Fairfax Street, all of which
have now disappeared. Dudley has also appeared as DJ at the BAWA Filton until the present day being a resident DJ at
Begbrook Rock n Roll Club.
Brenda and Dudley have been friends
since the late 50's, hence their good relationship has enabled them to work in harmony which makes the club what it is
today, both friendly and enjoyable.
members of the team include Nigel, who has a wealth of experience in rock n roll dancing and together with Brenda on Thursday
evening dance lessons, can pass on their knowledge and experience in helping others' to be able to rock n roll.
To complete the team, we have Meralyn who doubles as the "door person" and helps with the administration of the
club (flyers, computer work etc).
